Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THIS stand is one of the few in the Show on which all the exhibits embody a single design of chassis. The Jowett 7 h.p. vehicle has long been known as reliable and substantial, and it has, on these accounts, been widely used for commercial work.

Dealing first with the chassis specification, the horizontally opposed twoeylindered engine of 907 c.c. has side-byside valves, • thermo-siphon cooling, pressure lubrication, battery-and-coil ignition, a Zenith carburetter with a water-heated induction pipe and detachable cylinder heads. The last-named feature is a new one for 1930 and should do much to enhance, for corn mereial service, the value of the chassis.

Unit construction of the engine and gearbox is provided; the gear lever is centrally mounted. An open propeller Shaft carries the drive to the spiralbeTiel rear axle. Internal-expanding brakes operate in drums on the artillery-type wheels. The 'tyres-. are 27 ins. by 4.4 ins. (low pressure). All chassis shown are of the long-wheelbase type. Priced at f 156 is a van with Plymax panelling, two detachable seats, double rear doors and coachbuilt doors to the driver's compartment.

A lorry is shown having 1-ft. drop sides, which are detachable, as is the tailboard. This vehicle also has an en closed cab. These vehicles will carry 7-cwt. pay-loads. A boxvan with aluminium and Plymax panels, folding seats upholstered in leather cloth and a single-panel windscreen costs £155.

Another drop-sided lorry is exhibited, but this has a waterproof cover and the sides and back are made to roll up; its price complete is i156, finished in green coach enamel. A fabric-covered saloon, with a single-panel screen, four side doors and a rear door, is made for commercial travellers. It will carry 5 cwt. of samples and can be used for a wide variety' of purposes. As might be expected, the fuel consumption and running expenses generally are low.
