AMOST comprehensive selection from the extensive range of Guy passenger and goods machines is to be seen on this imposing stand. Modifications that have been incorporated in Guy models just recently include an alteration of the combustion-chamber contour in the case of the large six-cylindered engine, which has Guy patent inclined cylinder head and inclined valves ; also the offsetting of the transmission line and differential of all the larger passenger models. Additionally, the company has recently pro

dueed two new machines, one a straightframe six-tonner, employing the sixcylindered 4k-in. by 5k-in. engine, and the other a two-tonner, also with a straight frame, and having a four-cylindered engine of 90 mm. bore and 130 mm. stroke; the wheelbase of this machine is 12 ft. 3 ins. The six-tonner is not available on the Guy stand, but can be seen on the stand of Bromilow and Edwards, Ltd. (Stand Na. 81), but the new two-tonner is available here equipped with a platform-lorry body.

Dealing now with the actual exhibits, the 48-seater four-wheeled bus attracts H28

attention, being a handsome, forwardcontrol vehicle with a special low platform level. The chassis has the same model of engine as the six-tanner above referred to, the normal output of which is 105 b,h.p., the Treasury rating being 43.35 li.p.. In view of the difficulty which operators have in keeping the weights of double-saloon buses within the limits imposed by Ministry of Transport and Police Regulations, it is interesting to note that the weight of this 48-seater passenger chassis, with equipment, is 3 tons 15 cwt., the wheelbase being 16 ft. 71ins., and the front track

6 ft. 2k ins. It has Dewandre-assisted braking. Two examples of the FC32-model chassis are to be seen, one equipped with a single-deck bus body and the other with a coach body, the seating being for 31 and. 26 persons respectively. The engine in this chassis is .a six-cylindered unit of 4-in, bore ano 5k-in. stroke, developing 85 b.h.p., and the chassis weight, with equipment, is 3 tons 9 cwt.; the wheelbase is 16 ft. 7 ins, and the front track 5 ft. 10 ins. Four-wheel Dewandre-assisted brakes are provided. A smaller model is the OND longwheelbase chassis, which has sold excellently throughout the year for '20 seater passenger-carrying service. It is shown with a coach body, affording a degree of comfort suitable for long distance travel. This machine has a four-cylindered engine of 90 tom. bore and 130 mm. stroke, and the weight of the chassis, with equipment, is only 1 ton. 15 cwt.

The 30-cwt. ON-type and 2-top ONAmodel have the same type of foureylindered engine as the 20-seater coach chassis, the wheelbase of the smaller machine being 11 ft. 2 ins., whilst that of the new two-tanner is 12 ft. 3 ins. The 30-cwt. model has 33-in. by 5-in,

pneumatic float tyres and 34-in. by 7-in. rear tyres, the spare wheel being equipped with a solid tyre, whereas the larger machine has 36-in. by 6-in. tyres on the front wheels and 36-in. by 8-in. tyres on the rear wheels, the spare wheel, again, carrying a solid tyre.

The trackless trolley-bus is, of course; a familiar machine, but the appearance of it with offset drive to the bogie axles will be new to many visitors. Rees-Stevens regenerative system is used, the motor developing 60 h.p. The chassis is suitable for bodies carrying between 56 passengers and 60 passengers, and it weighs, with equipment, four tons.

We are tt,lad to notice that the sixcylindered engine and gearbox unit, mounted on the patent flexible subframe, is shown as a separate exhibit, thus enabling engineers and othees to appreciate the features of the unesual type of cylinder head and valve arrangement.
