Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BY reason of its recent introduction the 35-cwt. six-cylinder Citroen chassis attracts first attention. The 19.3 h.p. side-valve engine has a bore and stroke of 72 mm. and 100 mm. respectively, the capacity being 2,442 c.c.

The crankshaft is carried in four main bearings, and a damper is mounted at its forward extremity to counteract torsional oscillation. literesting points in the engine design are aluminium pistons, pressure lubrication, battery ignition with automatic advance control, four-point suspension of the engine-gearbox unit, pump circulation of the water, and oil, air and petrol filters.

A single dry-plate clutch carries the drive to the four-speed gearbox, which has a centrally mounted change lever. The open propeller shaft drives the spiral-bevel rear axle, which has a banjo casing.

Bendix servo-type brake shoes are used in the drums of all four wheels ; the hand lever operates the transmission brake. It is interesting to note that the rear springs are located below the frame members to give the maximum frame width for body support.

Other items in the specification of this new machine are a built-in front bumper bar—this also forms the forward cross-member of the frame—semielliptic springs with oil-less shackle

bushes, Lovejoy rebound dampers and adjustable rakefor the steering column.

In addition to the -stripped chassis a drop-side lorry is exhibited, this having a totally enclosed cab and being priced at £310. The van is similar, but is listed at £325.

A smaller model is that with a 13-30 h.p. four-cylindered engine of 32.8 h.p. (Treasury rating). Engine details include a three-bearing crankshaft, automatic ignition advance and shock-damping engine mounting points. The gearbox of this chassis provides three forward speeds, and the braking is by a Citroen vacuum-servo motor.

Spring-damping devices are fitted fore and aft. Five wire wheels are provided. This chassis will not be shown stripped, but as a farmer's convertible wagon and a four-seater car, also as a provincial-type taxicab, which sells for £365.

The Citroen-Kegresse chassis has a positively driven endless track with rubber blocks, driven by a 13-30 h.p. engine. An auxiliary two-speed gear Is fitted to the driving axle, thus giving six forward speeds and two reverse. A towing hook is fixed to the chassis. A platform body and a four-seater body are mounted on similar machines.
