Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TEE Chevrolet commercial chassis is made in two models, one for 12cwt. loads and the other for 30-cwt. loads. They have the same type of engine, this being a six-cylindered overhead-valve unit of 315s-in. bore and 3i-in. stroke, the R.A.C. rating of which is 26.33 h.p. The machines were introduced early this year and have not undergone any radical change in design since then. The smaller model has a three-speed instead of a four-speed gearbox, shorter wheelbase •and lighter frame, suspension and tyres than the larger model. The final-drive ratio of the smaller machine is 3.8 to 1, that of the 30-cwt. chassis being 4.9 to 1.

Of particular interest on the stand is the cut-away 30-cwt. chassis, for this enables visitors to see the design of engine, gearbox, rear axle and other components very clearly. The 12-cwt. light delivery van costs only £183, the end-tipping 30-cwt. lorry £244, and the 30-cwt. bovan £250.

The 14-seater bus shown is a very popular vehicle, particularly among the smaller bus operators of provincial and rural districts, and at £450 corn

plete it represents excellent value. The two-stretcher ambulance has all the usual equipment for such a vehicle and sells in its complete form at £350.

Of recent introduction into this country is the special Expando van incorporating the 30-cwt. chassis. This vehicle is intended to serve the purpose of a travelling showroom, and it is said to have attained popularity in America. The sides can be expanded apart by means of an electric motor run from the batteries. As they expand, so the roof rises to allow extra headroom and, as it is fitted with frosted glass windows and electric lighting, a good display is given to the articles coniained in the showcases on each side of the central portion. Entrance to the body is by a door at the rear, this also having quite a

large window. A noticeable point is that a combined rear .bumper and step has been fitted. It will be seen that the expanding mechanism is controlled by a switch in the driving compartment, an automatic-stop trigger switching off the current when the -body has been fully expanded or contracted, as the case may be. The complete machine sells for £875. The height of the ceiling from the floor when the body is opened up is 6 ft. 8 ins. ; the total interior width is 8 ft. 7 ins., and the internal length is 7 ft. 7 ins. This model will interest a large number of salesmen engaged in many industries.
