TFIREE well-tried types of chassis form the bases of the five Austin

exhibits. The largest is the 20 h.p. model having a six-eylindered engine' mounted in a long-wheelbase chassis. The capacity is 2,400 c.c. and the power output is 49 b.12.p. at 2,000 r.p.m. Two stretchers are carried, one above the other, on a Carter's patent elevator. Space is provided for an attendant and four sitting eases. Another person can sit beside the driver.

For those authorities which require a smaller ambulance there is the type shown on the four-cylinder 12 h.p. chassis. The engine capacity is 1,861 c.c. and develops 27 b.h.p. at 2,000 r.p.m. The body affords accommodation for one. stretcher case, an attendant and two sitting cases. Proeted, plain or purdah windows are built high up on the body sides.

A similar 12 h.p. chassis forms the basis of a commercial-traveller's brougham. A wide door at the rear gives access to a nest of drawers which are intended to carry samples. Behind the driver's scat is another space which 'will house a large quantity of goods. If it be desired to use the car as an ordinary saloon for five persons, the nest of drawers is readily detachable. The external metal fittings are chromium plated and Triplex glass is used throughout.

The famous 7 h.p. chassis is used for both the remaining exhibits. One has a coae, hbuilt van body for 2-cwt. pay-loads. The fonr-eylintlered engine drives through a three-speed gearbox to a two-piece propeller shaft and a spiralbevel axle. An ash framework supports aluminium panels and a moleskin roof. There are two doors at the rear and the price of £12.5 10s. includes painting in blue and maroon. A second person can he carried beside the driver. The interior dimensions of the body arc 3 ft. 2 ins. by 2 ft. 10 ins. by 2 ft. 4 ins.

On a similar chassis is the fabric. covered van body. In addition to the driver, 5 cwt. of goods can be carried. A bucket seat is provided for the driver ; both side windows are arranged to open. This model retails at £135 10s. ---the same figure as that for the coachbuilt machine.
