ARSON HAS NOT been ruled out as the possible cause of a ire that swept through a row of ive parked trucks at the yard of north Wales haulage operator PTR Services.
The blaze started at about 5am last Sunday (8 May) at the company’s base in Miners Road on the Llay Industrial Estate in Wrexham.
Two ire crews took almost an hour to extinguish the ire, which started in one cab and spread through the row of vehicles.
An investigation into the cause is ongoing. A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman says: “We received a call at 5.08am on Sunday saying a lorry was on ire in the Llay Industrial Estate, Wrexham. That ire then spread to four other HGV vehicles. Three of the vehicles received 100% damage and two suffered 50% damage.” PTR Services director Nick Pendleton says the ire caused about £80,000-worth of damage and the irm plans to hire vehicles to cover those that have been lost.
He adds: “It could be arson, but we are not sure. We have looked at the CCTV cameras, but they don’t show what happened.” PTR – which is authorised for 10 vehicles and the same number of trailers – also offers repair, maintenance and MoT services.
