Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I WAS DISMAYED to read the comments made by FTA chief executive Richard -Rimer regarding demonstrators (CM28April). His comments did not take into account that the people demonstrating are, in the main, small family hauliers of long standing and farmers who are fed up with ever increasing costs. Many are working for larger hauliers and quarries and have their rates enforced upon them.

1 have been involved in road haulage for 50 years and! lost many hours of sleep during the fuel protests of 2000. Because of that protest we secured lower diesel costs and VED levels, the benefits of which have now been swept away by further high fuel costs and increased insurance premiums. Since then! have continued to campaign, entirely at my own expense, both at home and abroad, and again at Stanlow last week, for lower fuel taxation.

Perhaps MrThmer should try to operate a haulage business in 2005 and prove to us all where we are going wrong. But I suppose he is far too busy with the others, sitting on the fence at those expensive conference venues to find the time for something so mundane!
