The show, forming part of the Institute of Road Transport Engineer's annual conference will be a launching pad for new vehicles and equipment. • Newport, Gwent-based bodybuilder Bedwas will be showing a new version of its MaxOp strapless curtainsider body at IRTE. It features multipoint curtain tensioning controlled by a single operating handle which provides a high degree of horizontal tensioning at both the top and bottom of the curtain.

Don-Bur has chosen the IRTE exhibition as the launch pad for its newly-developed Spacemaster sliding side panel semi-trailer.

The 12m thin-wall Spacemaster body, shown on a tandem-axle trailer chassis, is designed to combine easy side access with good load security.

Don-Bur will also be showing its Slide-A-Side strapless curtainsider.

ERF was the first manufacturer to take the latest air-toair charge-cooled Cummins LTAA10 10-litre engine, and an example which produces 227kW (304hp) installed can be seen in an E-series 4x2 tractive unit.

Foden has softened its stance of double drive for three-axle maximum-weight artics, and a tag-axle version of its 4000 tractor range will be on its stand at Solihull.

The 261kW (350hp) Catengined 4350 6x2 artic is equipped with a 13-speed Eaton/Fuller gearbox and has been built for Scottish fleet operator W H Malcolm.

Grau Girling's GX and MGX range of SIddchek antilock braking equipment has

now been joined by an improved DGX variant, which goes into production in July.

The DGX system combines the latest microprocessor technology with the GX memorycontrolled relay valve.

Like Seddon Atkinson, lyeco Ford is using IRTE to launch a low chassis height version, this time based on its 130kW (177hp) 175.17 17tonner two-axle rigid chassis (see Vehicle News).

Load handling specialist Joloda is showing its latest Airoll Floor — an air-operated roller bed system for use with any goods on flat-based pallets, including air-freight containers — on a step-frame trailer chassis. Joloda will also be showing its Moving Floor system.

Alongside the uprated 17tonne version of its longserving 1617 two axle chassis, Mercedes-Benz will show the new 4.6-tonne GVW version of its Bremen high-roof van.

Renault Truck Industries has been promising a twinsteer version of its premium R340 Turboliner tractive unit for some months, and the 6x2 R340 22TD makes its UK de but at Solihull as revealed exclusively in Commercial Motor last week.

Alongside its R340 6x2, RT1 is showing a Midliner 7.5tonner and a 4x4 Dodge 50 Series converted by Reynolds Boughton.

The Up-and-Under fold-away cantilever taillift from Ray Smith Tail Lifts of Peterborough is a variant of the company's simple single-ram RS10 series of lifts. This is shown with an unusual ground-level swap body system developed for British Rail.

Seddon Atkinson is now offering a factory-produced dropframe chassis based on its popular 2-11 17-tonner. Two examples will be on the Oldham-based manufacturer's stand.

Among the vehicles on the MAN-Volkswagen stand will be a 6x2 MAN 22.192 rigid chassis with a lifting airsuspended tag axle fitted by German convertor Hfifferman.

MAN will be pushing hard with its 14.192F 4 X 2 chassis. The day-cabbed rigid has lowprofile 285.70 tyres and a lowered 810mm frame height. Weighwrite launches a new version of its Automatic Overload Alarm Programme for articulated vehicles. It can be fitted to all Weighwrite static or dynamic axle weighbridges and stores the plated gross and axle weights for every artic unit in a fleet, automatically checking for overloads.

The most interesting exhibits on the Volvo stand are at the lighter end of the weight range, with the showing of a FL617 rigid with a box body, plated for 24-tonne drawbar operations.
