• No tachograph will be needed when a bus more than 25 years-old is driven on the road — provided that it is being used in connection with a rally or similar event, is carrying no more than eight passengers and is not being used for profit.
• The Association of British Travel Agents and the Bus and Coach Council have signed an accord which will allow both organisations to promote BCC's Bonded Coach Holiday Scheme. Any • holiday-maker booking a foreign coach holiday through an ABTA retailer will only be offered holidays protected by the ABTA or BCC schemes.
• The first of a fleet of 15 Leyland Olympians with Northern Counties bodywork have been handed over to Merseybus. The Olympians, in a new maroon and cream livery, are airsuspended and powered by Cummins L10 engines.
