ROADLINE UK's drivers look set to cave in and accept the company's revised offer of a 3.25 per cent wage increase rising to 4.5 per cent in October.
Transport and General Workers' Union officers were still assessing their members' views as we closed for press, but many depots were working normally as drivers accepted there was little chance of the offer being increased.
The company, the major part of the loss-making parcels group of the National Freight Consortium, imposed the 3.25 per cent increase after negotiations broke down, but made the revised offer to stop a withdrawal of cooperation by the drivers.
TGWU officers were resigned to there being little chance of the drivers continuing to fight the company, but claimed that Roadline had sown the seeds of future discontent among the workforce.
