FOR ITS FOURTH trading year in succession, Peak Trailers of Bidford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, has increased its turnover, this time with a jump of 50 per cent to £1.2m for the year ended February 19, 1984. The 1983 figure was £800,000 — a 20 per cent increase on performance to February 1982 and nearly double the 1981 achievement.
Sales director David Boardman said: "Last year's business growth was the result of an increased share of the market for trailer and caravan undergear and towing fixtures.
"This year there has been a general market growth, especially in the industrial trailer field, but also in the mobile office and boat trailer markets. This has meant additional outlets for our range of beam axles, independent suspension axle units, coupling equipment and jockey-wheel fittings."
Peak Trailers is investing £40,000 in a special-purpose CNC lathe built to order by BO Machine Tools of Sileby, Leicestershire.
The new computer controlled lathe enables Peak Trailers to machine axle parts which were previously contracted out and allows the company to obtain better and maintained standards of quality and production control.
Peak Trailers moved to its new factory at Waterloo Road Industrial Estate, Bidford-on-Avon, only 18 months ago, fullfilling a need for more space. The firm took advantage of the move then to invest in a modern electrostatic paint spray booth and additional storage facilities and has since doubled its number of employees.
A SERIES of motor vehicle repair training modules has been designed by TOT Management Services, the Kelvedon, Essex, training specialist.
They are designed with newlook apprenticeships in mind and may be covered over any period suitable for trainees, and by persons of any age.
