• Timber and plywood are used for the floors in some 85 per cent of vehicles and containers made in this country. To help with the correct selection of timber for flooring the Timber Research and Development Association has published an information bulletin entitled "Timber Floors in Freight Containers and Vehicles".
The bulletin deals with various kinds of flooring and joints, the manufacturing requirements to satisfy relevant codes and standards, the preservation of wood, and the movement of wood in service. The bulletin also lists the most suitable timbers for the various applications. A chart gives a complete breakdown of the salient points to be considered in each timber so that manufacturers can select .those with the characteristics they most require.
