IMPERIAL METAL INDUSTRIES LTD. is to consolidate its interests in automotive radiators, heat exhangers and related products in one company—to be known as Marston Radiators Ltd. Its activities will be those previously carried out by Marston Excelsior Ltd. in its three factories at Leeds, and by Norman Isherwood Ltd. at Bolton and Shipley.
Marston Radiators Ltd., which starts trading on May 1 with headquarters at Seacroft, Leeds, will have two subsidiary companies, Birshaw Ltd., of Featherstone, Yorkshire, which specializes in pipe manipulation and handrailing, and J. W. Lawrence Ltd., Narborough,nearLeicester,which manufactures and distributes radiator cores and special-purpose plant. There is also an associate company in Spain—Marston lberica SA.
ROOTES SHARE UP
DURING the first quarter of this year, Rootes Group trucks have steadily increased their share of the home market-----and sales during March moved the Commer-Dodge range up into third place with nearly 17 per cent of the total UK market (one ton pay load and above).
LEYLAND RECORD
A RECORD 371 per cent share of the UK heavy truck market in March is claimed by Leyland. This follows a month-by-month rise from 28.1 per cent in September.
LAND-ROVER ORDERS
TWO ORDERS for Land-Rovers worth a total of more than £70,000 have been received from Greece and Germany. The Greek Gendarmerie has ordered 40 Regular 88 in. wheelbase petrol-engined Land-Rovers; • and the West German Ministry of Defence has ordered 48 Long 109 in. wheelbase petrol-engined LandRovers, 16 of which will be 12-seater station wagons.
