Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Reduces driver fatigue, lengthens transmission life, gives more freedom to vehicle designers.

The Turner Air Shift is something completely new. Though it is not an automatic or semi-automatic box it gives the same advantage at a much lower cost and is simpler and more robust in every way.

Pneumatic cylinders using the air pressure of the air reservoir are used to move the gears and the system is controlled by electrical circuits operated by the change lever on a conventional gate pattern. The system only uses power during the actual change. Changes can be made with no more effort than switching a switch. This enormously reduces driver effort on large vehicles.

Cares for the transmission The pneumatic circuits on

theAir Shift are inter locked sothat synchronisation must be complete before any gears are engaged. This inevitably lengthens transmission life.

Freedom for the designers

With the Turner Air Shift the only connection between the gear lever and the box is a multicore cable. A single pneumatic supply line is fitted between reservoir and the gearbox unit. Consequently both the transmission and the change lever can be placed anywhere with no design complications.
