COMMERCIAL MOTOR Tables of Operating Costs, the total operating cost per mile at 600 miles per week is 18.01d. but at 400 miles per week the corresponding figure would be increased to 21.91d., or decreased to 16.16d. per mile when averaging 800 miles per week.

The reason for these variations is that whereas the standing cost per week remains the same the standing cost per mile decreases as the average mileage increases.
