Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ALTHOUGH this part of Europe is a good market for British vehicles, because of an established local trailer industry and import duties there are few exports of Britishbuilt trailers to the Benelux countries. York Trailer Co., however, elected to join the local industry rather than compete from outside and formed York Trailer Europa NV which since 1961 has been building York products in Holland.

This company has now formed an association with the Dutch company, Van Der Ploge's Fabrieken Pacton NV builders of Pacton trailers. This association provides service for York operators through the established Pacton branches and distributors. York Freightmaster semi-trailer vans and TIR units will be built and marketed by the Pacton-York alliance and Pacton will be using certain York components—axles and running gear—in their own production.

Gloster Sara Ltd. have tried without much success to export the light alloy road tankers which are built on semi-trailer chassis, and feel that before any substantial business could be conducted, a strong local agent or licensee would be required.

Scammell Lorries told me they did not consider any redesign necessary to their gross-vehicle-weight semi-trailers for any of these territories, and, in the case of the range of Auto-C semi-trailers with the latest breakaway braking arrangements, these could meet the requirements of the Benelux countries should a trading arrangement materialize between them.
