Express: An hourly express bus service to be operated on weekdays between Con.: sett and Sunderland (Co. Durham) by the Northern General Transport Co., Ltd.
Tunnel Date: Northumberland County Council have been told that work on the £13m, road tunnel under the River Tyne from Howdon to Jarrow, County Durham, postponed since the late 1940s, will start in the autumn.
Golden Year: The Harper Motor Co., Ltd., of Aberdeen, has celebrated its golden jubilee. The company was one of the first Ford dealers in Britain, and over the years h has grown into one of the major organizations of its type in the North of Scotland.
More Vinyl Acetate: Iledon Chemicals. Ltd., have recently completed substantial extensions to their vinyl-acetate plant at Salt End, near Hull. The plant was originally commissioned in September, 1956, and the recent expansion increases the productive capacity by approximately 60 per cent.
Not in Haulage: The caption to a photograph, published last week, of an Albion van on contract hire to Wolfe and Hollander, of Exeter, stated incorrectly that the vehicle was owned by J. H. Sparshatt and Sons. Ltd. They built and supplied the vehicle to Highbury Tankers, Ltd., who hold the contract.

Bits Station: Castleford Council is applying to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government for sanction to borrow £20,489 for the first stage of a new bus station.
Scots Celebrate: A week-end conference was held by the Road Haulage Association Scottish Area, at Pitlochry, on April 29-30. the 150 members coming from places as far apart as Inverness and Dumfries. There was a business session on Saturday morning and a dinner dance in the evening.
Harness Display : Vehicle safety harnesses are featured at an exhibition being held in Scarborough by British Nylon Spinners, Ltd., in conjunction with the National Industrial Safety Conference. The exhibition opens today and closes on Sunday and includes examples of Autosafe, Irving, Lexington and Michael Richmond equipment, all of which incorporate nylon webbing.
