Mr. Amos. the son of a shepherd, was chairman of the Institute's Scottish sectio in 194849; served on the 1.o.T Council from 1948-50 and served from 1953 to 195 as a vice-president. He gave the Henry Spurrier memorial lecture in 1952.
After starting a bus service after the First World War, Mr. Amos became managin director of Brook and Amos, Ltd., which was acquired in 1926 by Scottish Mot( Traction Co., Ltd. He subsequently became a director and vice-chairman ( S.M.T.
When S.M.T. was nationalized, Mr. Amos became chairman of the Scotti;. Omnibuses Group. He was awarded the C.B.E. in 1958.
