WEATHERPROOFING of vehicles will be tested in new plant in the Leyland works which reproduces heavy rain. It Consists of a girder framing into which a vehicle can be driven. Three hundred feet of piping, in which small spray holes arc drilled every 2 ft., extends around three sides of the frame and water is sprayed at a pressure of 100 16. per sq. in.
Last year, Leyland production was the highest ever. In the first four months of 1950, 13 per cent, more vehicles were made than in the corresponding period of 1949.
Nine foreign countries and home operators in over 20 counties have ordered the new Royal Tiger underfloor-engined chassis.
