A Useful Buyers' Guide to Current Models

ON this and the following pages we give abbreviated specifications of the many goods-carrying chassis now on the British market. These machines are grouped in categories according to the pay-load recommended by the manufacturer. The fact that any particular model is included in a certain category does not necessarily mean that the load in question can be carried under the legal con

ditions obtaining in this 'country. This, of course, applies only in the ease of the larger machines which may, when fully laden, exceed the axle-weight limits at present in force in Great Britain.

Except in eases in which the word' " steam " follows the name of the maker, or when the abbreviation " OE " occurs in the model column (indicating an oil engine), a petrol engine is employed. When solid or pneumatic tyres are optional the alternative prices are given, but the general rule, to-day, Is to quote for pneumatics unless otherwise specified. In certain instances larger tyres can be provided, but the chassis price is then, of course, increased. Variations from standard are not included in these tables. Except in a few specified instances the cost of bodywork is additional to the figures quoted.
