IN order to cope with the increasing traftic on regular services, the transport department of the Nottingham Chamber of Commerce, Smithy Row, Nottingham, which has built up an excellent reputation amongst haulage contractors, has now opened a depot or transit shed' which is under its direct control. This is situated in Sherwin Road, Cattle Boulevard, Nottingham, and consists of a spacious building where the necessary loading of lorries and transhipment of goods can be car

ried out under cover. It has been equipped with loading docks and the necessary office accommodation.

Regular nightly services are now in operation, from Nottingham to• the following districts":--London and the BOale Counties; Birmingham and the West Midlands; South Wales ; Liverpool and 13irkenhead; Manchester and South Lancashire; Leeds, Bradford and the West Riding ; Chesterfield; Sheffield ;

Leicester; Derby, Leek and the Potteries; Southampton ; Spalding and places en route ; Lincoln, Boston, etc. ; Glasgow and Edinburgh, Carlisle and . Newcastle-ori-Tyne'. Full particulars of these services and the rates which are charged can be obtained upon application to the tranSport manager, Mr. W.. Donaldson Wright, Assoeinst.T., at the offices of the Chamber.

Coincident with the opening of this depot, arrangements have been made for the lorries running from Nottingham to have .the use of a large, garage and depot in. the Tooley Street area of London. This will enable members of the Chamber, particularly those engaged in the provision trade who utilize the service from London; to' send in their orders to this depot, when they will be collected for dispatch with all speed to Nottingham. depot will deal with any number of consignments of Ii cwt. and upwards, but for smaller quantities instructions for collection,can be given to Carter, Paterson and Co., Ltd., 128, Goswell Road, London, E.C.1.

The attention of consignees is drawn to the fact that the following agents will deal with empties for Nottingham London—Carter, Paterson and Co., Ltd. (address as already given) ; Birmingham—Midland " Red " Commercial Motor Services, Seymour Street ; South Wales—Venn and McPherson, East Usk. Newport; Liverpool—Karrier's' Parcel Delivery Service, 13-23, Peter's Lane, Church Street ; Manchester—City Par' eels Express, 1, Peel Street ; Leeds— Eagle Transport Co., /1, Arniley Ridge Road ; Leicester—A. T. Seaton, Rutland House, Mountsorrell. Instructions for other destinations are dealt with at the head office. The new arrangements are likely to increase business.
