• Severn Trent subsidiaries LI Biffa Waste Services is taking Biffa Environmental and Biffa Waste Services are adding some of the latest environmentally friendly sewer cleaning vehicles to their fleets.
The Volvo FL7 8x4-mounted Vactor Huntsman is a wet/dry vacuum loader made by Lodge Sturtevant in Huddersfield, It features a new pulsed jet filtering arrangement with sequential cleaning and discharges pneumatically from the cleaning hoppers into the main debris tank, which is then tipped via remote controls using Harsh tipgear.
Biffa ES is expected to order two more from Lodge, but fitted with water recycling and pusher plate ejection. the first jetter/suction tanker supplied into the UK by Liechtenstein-based Kaiser.
The Kaiser, which is based on an MAN 30.332 8x4 unit, can use mains or recycled water for continuous operation, and its filter is self-cleaning. Debris and sludge is separated from the water by a hydraulic divider door.
Northumberland Water has shown interest in the Kaiser, which uses a liquid ring aluminium cast vacuum pump within the water tank for noise suppression.
