Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• An opening roof system for glass-carrying trucks and trailers has won a British design award from the Design Council.

Royston-based bodybuilder Glass Transport Systems' Polifold Roof gives a roof opening of 90% compared with 75% on most solid folding roofs, claims the company.

"One of the biggest problems with glass is that companies use overhead cranes and this means opening roofs have to be used," says inventor John Smith. "We used to make solid panel roofs, but they were limited to how far they could open."

The Polifold is a PVC sheet with curved plastic springs inserted in pockets. The roof folds back by the driver using a pulley.

Glass Transport Systems has been making the product for two years, but now hopes to offer it in kit form.
