Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Ltd managing director has resigned over plans for the future of the Bamber Bridge spares and service plant.

The man is 43-year-old Mr David Gregson. He resigned after company plans to reorganise the Bamber Bridge spares and service centre were revealed to him. The plan also involved management changes and possible changes in the numbers of men employed by the company.

This week Mr Gregson told CM "It was a matter of principle. But some of the plans that I had put to me have now been altered."

Union convenor Mr Tom Maitchell said "Of course we are concerned about the position of the manpower and the effect on the members of the AUEW. The lads obviously want a quick answer of these questions.

"There is a certain amount of sub-contracting within the company and it is this that will have to be looked at before there are reductions in the workforce."

But Seddon Atkinson spokesmen would say nothing of the changes. "A statement will be put out in about two weeks," they said.
