Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I've heard of flaming rows, but this is ridiculous.

At the FTA Solent division's first annual dinner, RHA southern area chairman Harold Mould proposed a marriage between the two Associations. All seemed sweetness and light.

Then during the night the country house in whose grounds the Solent Motel at Bursledon stands (venue for the dinner) went up in flames. Luckily one of the FTA faction spotted the fire and called the brigade at 3.45am. It must have been some fire—they tell rue it took seven hours to put out.

Now, I've no evidence to suggest it was a beacon of protest, but I know there are those in both associations who passionately oppose the merger.
