Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Bus numbers

NEARLY 70,000 buses and coaches are licensed in England and Wales alone according to figures released by transport under secretary Mr Ken Marks this week.

He revealed that the majority —25,034--are in the hands of private operators while the National Bus Company is the largest single group with 20,831.

Harlow study

A THREE month study into the feasibility of reorganising bus services in Harlow will be carried out by Alastair Dick and Associates under contract to the Transport and Road Research Laboratories.

The Harlow Council requested that TRRL should make a study of possible changes to the main bus services in addition to their studies of the dial-a-bus system.

High-rise

COACH park charges at St Pauls Churchyard will increase from 10p for 30 minutes to El for 30 minutes under new proposals published by the Corporation of London.

From March to October coaches could park only in the mornings—in the afternoons they would have to park in West Smithfield at el for the first hour and then 50p for each additional 15 minutes.

East Anglia survey

THIRTY-ONE per cent of people questioned in a survey of towns and villages in South East Norfolk and North East Suffolk use buses for their transport in or from that area. The survey has just been completed by the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company.

The information received by the bus company will be used in planning improvements to services and will also be made available to the local councils.
