0 new SIF cutting and welding blowpipe sets arc to be introduced by Suffolk Iron Foundry (1920) Ltd. at the International Welding Exhibition being held at Olympia (April 21-30). These lightweight blowpipes can be used with low-, mediumand high-pressure acetylene. It is claimed that resistance to sustained backfire is very high and that stable flames are easily maintained. The gas channels are large so that the chance of their becoming clogged is much reduced. The SIF 1000 set is a popular size designed for general daily use. It comprises a torch handle, six welding heads, cutting attachment, three sizes of cutting tips, a wrench and accessories; the parts are contained in a metal storage case. This torch will weld steel thicknesses up to 4,-. in. and will cut steel plate up to 2 in. thick.

The SIF 2090 is a heavy-duty. kit., consisting of a torch handle, six welding heads, cutting attanment, a wrench, doublewheel torch cutting guide and various accessories. This kit is also supplied in a strong metal ease and the torch is capable of welding thicknesses• of up to fin, and will cut steel up to 10 in. thick.

Scissor Lifts SCISSOR lifts in a large range of sizes and capacities (up to a maximum of 40 tons) are now available from G. Hunter (London) Ltd. These are powered by electric mains supply— though the smaller models are also supplied as hand-powered hydraulic units. The electric mains supply cart be arranged for a remote control push-button station or, alternatively, the push-button station can be mounted on the lift.

A useful feature of these Hunter lifts is that they can be " inched " upwards and downwards. They can be obtained fitted with castors or for mounting on the floor. One model has a small ramp fixed in each end So that it can be used for moving toads on pallets from the ground on to the vehicle. Safety features incorporated include trip bars, steel side guards and photoelectric cells. All models in the range are supplied complete with test certificates. . Slip Group Developments ADIESEL fuel additive called Dieslip is One of several new products to be marketed by the Slip Group. This allpurpose diesel fuel additive (used in the ratio of 1 gal. to 500) is claimed to have reduced the level of diesel smoke by as much as 60 points on the Hartridge scale in a recent test. Other claims made for this product is that it lowers fuel consumption, increases power and maintains engine cleanliness. Active agents in Dieslip are said to reodourize. and stabilize the fuel in bulk, prevent surface gum formation, counteract oxidization and sedimentation of lubrication oils, minimize cylinder wear and piston-ring breakage and protect surfaces against the ccirrosive effect of gases.

Two new multi-purpose lubricants are also available front this concern. These are a Molyslip penetrating and lubricating oil and a Molyslip penetrating and releasing fluid.

Other items being marketed by the Slip Group include Tuneslip, a. petrol additive, and a polish called Double Cote car wax, which is available in both liquid and paste form.

This company has also announced that Molyslip, its most popular oil additive, is nw to be available in " trial size " 2-fl. oz. tins. A recent report from Liverpool University states that this product was found to reduce piston-ring wear by 25.4 per cent (on average) in three recent laboratory tests. Made by: Slip Products and Eng. Thermostats and Radiator Caps A NEW " AC Thermostats and Radiator Caps" folder issued 1-1 recently by the AC-Delco division of General Motors Ltd. gives full application data for wax-pellet and bellows-type thermostats made by the company. Some 40 new AC waxpellet thermostat applications are listed, together with existing recommendations for AC bellows types. The folder also contains useful identification data, servicing hints and details of display assortments available. Copies can be obtained from motor factors.
