FIRST DAY EXCURSIONS FROM 'MALTBY THE Yorkshire , Licensing Authority

has granted permission to Tom Peel Tours, Maltby, to operate excursions and tours to Bridlington, Blackpool, Manchester and Belle Vue from Easter to _October. They will be the first day excursions to be operated from Maltby.

It was stated for the applicant that there was a population of 18,000 in the Maltby area who could travel to those destinations only by stage services to either Rotherham, seven miles away, or Sheffield, 12 miles, from where there were connecting services.

The application was opposed by Sheffield United Tours, Ltd. British Railways withdrew their objection when Tom Peel Tours offered a compromise arrangement.

CHANGE IN WAGES AGREEMENT A MENDMENTS have been made to the wages agreement. for the sand and ballast industry. The national joint council for the industry have agreed that all employees with a year's service should have 12 days' paid holiday per annum with wages at the rate of 71 hours for each day at the wage scale applicable to the operative.

Bank Holidays are to be allowed with pay, and if an employee works on a Bank Holiday he will be paid normal rates plus a day's pay in lieu of holiday, it has been ruled.

TAKE-OVER OF 50 ROUTES

A PROPOSAL to take over 50 bus IA routes during the next financial year is being examined by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. India, Eighteen of the routes have already been approved and arrangements made to operate them this month.
