MR. DONALD B. MORREN has been appointed assistant to SIR WILLIAM WELSH, North American representative of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. Mr. Morren has had extensive practical training with several of the largest vehicle manufacturers and has gained experience in all branches of production and maintenance.

MR. A. C. BURDON, MR. N. C. A. SPuRoEoN and MR. E. W. SWALES have been appointed deputy managing directors of Automotive Products Co., Ltd., Lockheed Hydraulic Brake Co., Ltd., and Borg and Beck Co., Ltd. Executive directors appointed are MR. E. BEAUMONT, who is in charge a production, MR. S. M. PARKER (engineering). and MR. S. WESTWOOD SMYE (purchasing). MR. J. B. Emmorr will act as alternate director to any member of the board. - MR. J. H. G. BARBER has been elected chairman and MR. J. A. HILL vicechairman of the Southampton Sub-area of the Road Haulage Association. Results of other elections in the Southern Area are: MR. J. H. FISHER, chairman, and MR. G. J. ABRAHAM, 0.B.E., vice-chairman, Reading Subarea ; MR. C. E, COLE, chairman, and MR. F. 0. WARD, Vice-chairman, Bletchley Sub-area; MR. J. RAWLINGS. Chairman, and MR. WITCHARD, J.P” have been appointed chairman and vice-chairman. respectively, of the Livestock Functional Group.

MR. L. HARRISON has been appointed traffic superintendent to Maidstone Transport Department. At present he is technical assistant (traffic) with Huddersfield Transport Department. He was previously with Baddeley Bros., Ltd., Holtinfirth.

MR. D. F. GILMOUR has been reelected chairman of the Merseyside branch of the Industrial Transport Association. The vice-chairman is MR. L. J. HOPKINS, and secretary, MR. E. J. BIBBY. Branch membership has almost doubled in just over six months, MR. T. B. ANDISON, F.C.I.S., M.Inst.T., secretary and registrar of the Ulster Transport Authority, will retire at the end of the month. He has held this position since the Authority was formed in 1948. Mr. Andison has been treasurer of the Northern Ireland Section of the Institute of Transport since 1944.

DR. C. DANNATT has been appointed deputy managing director of the Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. MR. A. C. MAIN, director and works manager, has become director of manufacture, and MR. E. W. STEELE, director and general manager of works, has retired from executive duties but remains a director. The managing director of Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Export Co., Ltd., MR. J. F. PERRY, has been appointed a director of the parent concern.
