Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MERCEDES R1NGWAY JACOBS

Based: London Industry: Highway maintenance Fleet size: 70 Fuel economy: N/A Mileage: 30,000km s Problems: None Working within London's Low Emission Zone means adhering to stringent legislation or risk going out of business. Working for Transport for London [TfL] means having a fleet that stands out as exemplary and 'whiter than white' example.

Ringway Jacobs bought in a Euro-5 Mercedes Benz Actros 6x4, complete with a snowplough and gritter the grab and tipper body to help maintain the highways and byways for TI L, so it needed to be the most suitable vehicle the company could specify, and to win the TfL contract Euro-5 was an essential.

The fleet has now been populated with 22 Euro-5 Mercedes-Benz products, which handle gritting, gully emptying, tunnel washing and traffic management. Although Ringway's assistant group plant and fleet manager, Gary Condon, was reluctant to reveal its fuel figure, due to the nature of its work, he was pleased with overall performance.

We felt it was the best vehicle for the job in winter applications. It's a dual-purpose vehicle. It's a heavy-duty beast, rugged and ideal for the job, and for longevity and functionality," he says.

In the time it has been with Ringway Jacobs, it has amassed 30,000kms and the AdBlue, which Condon thought might be a problem, has been OK. The company has recently installed a 1,000-litre tank to replenish the fleet.

The Actros 6x4 rigid is fitted with a tipper body, grab, and griller with a plough. The chassis cad was supplied through Mercedes-Benz dealer John R Weir, from Aberdeen, and has been through Lancashire Tippers, Econ Engineering, with a PDI at Ciceley Commercials in Bolton before delivery.

Although it was the first Euro-5 ordered, its specification is standard and now there are 12 Euro-5 gritters on the fleet. During the winter, the vehicle went out 60 times to keep designated routes clear.
