* The Freight Transport Association warns hauliers that they could be Fined in France For carrying medication without the doctor's prescription. A British lorry driver was recently fined for carrying unauthorised drugs (suspected amphetamines) which had been issued on a doctor's prescription.
* The Macedonian prohibition on the transit of livestock and animal products from Bulgaria, imposed last year because of an epidemic of foot and mouth disease, has been lifted.
* The British Embassy in Greece is warning drivers that a number of attempts have been made to stow away in trucks bound from Patras for Italy following the closure of a Kurdish refugee camp near Athens.
* Portuguese shipping agent Portmar aims to start a ROR0 service for unaccompanied trailers between the UK and Portugal.
* International operators need to check if they have an old-style "approval certificate of a road vehicle for the transport of goods under Customs seal" before this form expires on 30 June. The new certificates are marked "GV60 (revised 1995)" in the top-right-hand corner. Operators with old certificates who have a vehicle or trailer inspection due after 30 June should obtain a replacement certificate from the Vehicle Inspectorate, contact 01792 454250.
*The IRU is looking for the best drivers in international haulage to receive the Diplome D'Honneur. Nominations must be received at the IRU in Geneva by 15 August.
