• The Iveco group took pole position for truck sales in May with 802 registrations, up from 721 last year.
Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders figures show that every other manufacturer apart from Renault VI suffered another sharp drop in sales—Mercedes-Benz sales were down by almost 200, from 709 to 523.
Overall UK sales were 3,892; down by almost 10% from May 1996.
Sales for the first five months of the year were 20,972; more than 24% lower than January-May 1996.
