Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

B.V.C. Engineering, well known for its industrial vacuum cleaners, has developed a welding shield incorporating an extraction vent which, with flexible pipework attached to a suction plant, removes fumes and smoke at source.

The fumes and dust are carried by a high velocity air flow through an intake slot in the face of the shield. This enables the welder to work closer to the job, permits an improved view through the light filter which the maker claims remains clean and unblemished in regular use.

The flexible link hose between the shield and the vacuum source may be used also for dust and swarf removal when a proper filter or separator is employed. Marketed by: Goblin B.V.C. Engineering Ltd, Leatherhead. Surrey.

Price: Shield with extraction nozzle and hand grip, £3 15s (hose and suction plant extra).
