applications for additional motor vehicles in the Yorkshire Area was extended at a meeting, convened by A.R.O. at Bradford, on Tuesday. A resolution was passed requesting A.R.O. Yorkshire Area and the NorthEastern Division of the C.M.U.A. to organize objections by operators to an application by the L.M.S. Railway Co. for A licences involving an additional unladen weight of 51 tons 4 cwt. in respect of its Bradford base.

A fighting fund for the purpose of briefing counsel to conduct-the opposition to the application was opened with a subscription of £5 from Mr. Henry Burrill, and within about a quarter of an hour the fund reached a total of over £25.

Approval was given to a suggestion that a further meeting should be held under the joint auspices of A.R.O. and the C.M.U.A., to consider the details of the opposition to he put forward, including evidence to be given.

Before the Bradford meeting, a correspondent learned that the C.M.U.A. had already taken steps to organize opposition to the railway application. and that a number of Bradford members had decided to lodge objections.

Another illustration of the extent to which Yorkshire operators have been roused on the question of opposing railway applications was afforded at the Bradford meeting. It was stated that Hull objectors to the L.N.E. Railway company's application for additional motor vehicles for its Hull base have already briefed counsel, that within 20 minutes they raised £57 to finance the opposition, and that 55 operators signed objection forms.

Tuesday's meeting of Bradford operators was held under the chairmanship of Mr. L. Cadwallader, of the Yorkshire Area headquarters staff of A.R.O.
