Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

QAt what length of overk../hang do we need to use a marker board? We carry boats and recently we were stopped and told by a police officer that we were illegal at 1.5m? WWII, Ramsgate.

AOverhang (rearward projection) is governed by Regulation 87 (7) of the Road Vehicles Construction and Use Regulations 1986 and paragraph 1,2,3,4 of Schedule 12 of the same regulations.

A rearward projection of lm but not exceeding 2m is required to be clearly visible to other road users and the back of a boat must come into that category — it doesn't need a marker board. For 2m to 3.05m you need a marker and, over 3m you also need sidemarkers.

If over 3.05m, you need to notify the police and carry an attendant.
