• A bus safety code for children has been drawn up by the Bus and Coach Council to reduce the 20,000 accidents involving schoolchildren every year.
Buscode uses a four-page comic, stickers and posters to show children how to avoid getting hurt. Schools, local authorities and road safety organisations will run programmes throughout the country and so far 17 bus companies have pledged to implement the scheme in their areas.
