• A £10m distribution contract with supermarket giant Safeway has been clinched by Exel Logistics.
The NFC firm has bought a depot in Birmingham's Fort Dunlop site to service the contract and more than 100 jobs have been created.
The three-year deal involves deliveries to two other Safeway distribution depots in Warrington and Bristol, and 23 Safeway stores in the West Midlands.
Exel Logistics' temperaturecontrolled division already operates a contract with Safeway in Elstree, Herts. El Pipe and tubing specialist Lancashire Tube Stockholders has contracted out its distribution to Exel Logistics.
