• Isle of Wight-based MWV Transport is teaming up with a hovercraft operator to offer next-day parcel deliveries to and from Europe.
The six-year-old parcels and general haulier will begin carrying freight on Hovertravel's 100 single daily crossings this week. If business increases Hovertravel will introduce a freight-only vessel.
MWV expects the service, called Hoverlink Parcels, to account for 50% of its business by the end of the year. It currently uses the ferry service to transport 250 parcels a day, plus magazines and newspapers. It previously offered only a 48-hour service.
