The London Borough of Merton has decided to rejoin the London Boroughs Transport Scheme which administers the London Lorry Ban. Merton was one of seven boroughs led by Bromley which withdrew from the ban, but changed its mind when the LBTS provided it with detailed membership costs.
The Freight Transport Association says that Merton's decision probably follows from the May elections in the borough when the Labour Party gained control: This really underlines the political nature of the ban," it claims.
