• Some lightweight trailers will have to be fitted with brakes from October 1 to meet EEC rules.
Owners and users will have to ensure that their trailers are equipped with brakes if the maximum gross Weight exceeds 750kg or if the trailer weight together with any load exceeds half the kerbside weight of the towing vehicle.
