FIDUS CONTROLS Ltd, the South Shields—based manufacturer of road speed governors and other fuel saving and control devices has now developed a speed checker for the police.
DATAC (distance and time analysing computer) is a microprocessor-based speed checker which has a control and display panel about the size of a car radio.
The speed of the target vehicle can be measured either by following it at the same speed, or by timing the target over a known distance while the detection vehicle is either moving or stationary.
DATAC is said to be accurate to within 0.10 mph and the displayed speed can be 'held' on the screen.
