THE DEPARTMENT of Transport has announced its intention to amend the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1978 in order to implement EEC braking requirements.

The EEC specifies various-. technical braking standards, ranging from stability requirements to detailed performance specification. In most cases these will set new improved minimum legal standards for vehicles of most classes, but

large passenger-carrying vehicles may be exempted from some stability requirements.

Interested parties wishing to make comment should apply in writing to Mr. R. Blacker, Room C18/03. Department of Transport, 2 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3EP for a copy of the draft amending regulations, and make returns by 29th August.
