CIT. (Spain) Ltd, part of the Clearport Group of companies, has started the first overland trailer service to Gibralter, since the border between Spain and Gibralter was closed 11 years ago.
CIT will start with three full load departures per week in conjunction with Baker Britt (Gibraltar) and Key Transport of Gibraltar. A groupage service is due to start later this month.
To give the service greater flexibility, it is planned to ship vehicles alternately via Dover to Calais and Boulogne , and Plymouth to Santander, which will avoid problems at which may occur on the French / Spanish border.
