Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE TRANSPORT and General Workers Union does not share the same views with the United Road Transport Union over the use of sleeper cabs.

Following the URTU's acceptance of sleeper cabs (CM, June 21), TGWU commercial group secretary, Jack Ashwell, has summed up his union's view in a short sentence: -We're opposed to sleepers."'

They are only a makeshift arrangement and drivers deserve better acommodation, says Mr Ashwell.

'Drivers should by right book into hotels. They are no more than modern day gipsies and they are entitled to a better status in life.'

On the URTU's call for twoman operated drawbar vehicles, Mr Ashwell said: "I can see logic in the argument."
