RUMOURS over the past few months &lout the future of Magirus-Deutz vehicles as a separate operation have been effectively scotched by an official denial by the parent

company KlocknerHumboldt-Deutz AG of any impending merger or takeover.

The company admits that KHD has been contemplating some form of "co-operation" to strengthen the position of Magirus-Deutz and that many discussions have been held.

The statement says that there have been discussions with prospective partners who wished to take advantage of a co-operation programme on the development of high-speed, aircooled diesel engines but whose final motivation was the intention of buying the company. KHD stresses that it has no intention of giving up the commercial vehicle division but present cooperation discussions are well advanced.
