Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Tony Wild i ng • Righthand drive six-wheel dump trucks made by Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz of West Germany have been introduced to the British market for the first time by Seddon-Deutz LW., of Oldham. This week demonstrations have been staged on a specially prepared site near Chesterfield.

Two 6 X 6 models—the Magirus-Deutz 210 D 26 AK 6 X 6 and 156 D 21 AK 6 X 6—were put through a series of stiff tests over exceptionally difficult terrain and a third—a 210 D 22 B 6 x 4—was also being shown, this model being suitable for less difficult ground. The two fully laden demonstration models acquitted themselves well even though they did not have tyres designed specifically for off-road use.

Following usual Klockner-HumboldtDeutz practice, the model numbers indicate engine maximum net bhp (DIN) and gross designed weight; the 210 bhp engine is a V8 and the 156 bhp a V6. Both units are air cooled and, while designed for higher weights off the road, the 6 X 6s are limited to 20 tons on the road because of axle spread dimensions. The 6 X 6 models have five-speed ZF gearboxes with auxiliary gearboxes givinE high and low ranges.

For the demonstrations the chassis hac Meiller rock bodies but they will be imported as chassis/cabs for the fitting of Britist. bodywork. Chassis /cab prices are £5,35C for the 210 D 22 6 X 4, £5,550 for the 156 D 21 6 X 6 and £6,550 for the 210 D 26 6 X 6. Payload capacities are in the region ol 12, 13 and 16 tons respectively.
