Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The hot topic in the Mermaid Tavern is equal rights legislation, as Peter Lamer finds out.

It was hardly a night that knew no equal at the Mermaid Tavel last Friday. Bill Heath had been swotting up on several piec( of new legislation, and judging by the titles he thought that "education, education, education" had been replaced by "equal, equal, equal" at the top of Tony Blair's agenda.

Firstly, Hampstead pointed out that the Sex Discriminatior Act and the Equal Pay Act had been amended to implement the Equal Treatment Directive. Then there had been some changes to the Minimum Wage Regulations and, finally, the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations were to be introduced in 2006—and were already worrying hi Pork Chop spent most of the evening trying to unravel just one sentence from the Equal Treatment Directive. This, he said, made it unlawful for an employer to refuse to offer a job to someone on the grounds that he or she is intending to undergo, is undergoing, or has undergone "gender reassignment". He wondered whether he needed to amenc his company's job application form to ascertain whether an applicant was, is, or might be, intending to reassign their gender, as it was not a question that normally crops up durir an interview for a meat delivery driver.

Mush found the Age Equality Regulations much more interesting and, as he is only three years from retirement, resolved to begin work immediately on developing the 'age-friendly policies' that the legislation required employers to produce. He also thought it was typical, if not a little duplicitous, that the government should exempt age discrimination from the new National Minimum Wage regulations. While the government was forcing employers n to discriminate on age, they themselves had three separate age bands in that one piece of legislation.

"Sounds like a case of 'don't do as I do, but do as I say'," mumbled, as he went off to get another round of drinks.

"Gender reassignmen a question that norma up during an intervie meat delivery driver"
