Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

YOUR NEWS item headed "Higginbottom challenges Monks to lead URTI.1"(CM 15 December 2005) incorrectly reported that -12 RTU was expelled from the TUCC' during my tenure as general secretary.

This is not the case, URTU resigned from the TUC with the fun backing of the Executive Committee in support of the 300 Ford workers we were defending at the time.

I would also like to draw your attention to the point I made during the interview about the actual election process In contrast to when I was elected in 1992.URTU members have been denied the opportunity to meet the candidates.challenge their claims and generally take them to task over their ideas and policies. An important aspect of such a process is to prevent members from being deliberately misled through the selective use of statistics.

This is one of the most important posts within any trade union and for members to receive so little information and be denied the right to engage in the election process is an assault on the democratic rights trade unions would normally be expected to uphold.
