On the Margin has vowed to be a good little column this ye and do good things for the whole damned planet. So withc further ado we'd like to plug all manner of charity events ar shame you all into contributing something after blowing all your pennies on Christmas revelry.

First up is Transaid, the Industry's favourite charity, whic is trying to encourage people to take up the challenge of cycling over 400km through Malawi next September. Then a minimum sponsorship requirement, but if you fancy dust off the old Sturrney-Archer three-speeder this could be the event for you. More details at www.transaid.org Also worthy but slightly less arduous will be Transaid's Spring Ball, which is taking place on 18 May. It will be held partnership with the charity's biggest corporate supporter, Pall-Ex, at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel in the heart of London's West End.

Tickets can be bought by downloading a booking form from the Transaid website, www.transadorg/news/ events.htm Elsewhere we have Nicola Howlett, a project manager the Top Technician competition (www.toptechnician.co.uk who is planning to freefall over 3,000m on April 8 to raise money for motor industry charity BEN.

She will take part in the tandem skydive at Headcorn, r Maidstone, in Kent.
