• Felixstowe-based Anchor Euro Transport has bought four 13.6m swapbodies for

use on its Swiss service between Manchester and Basle via the Channel Tunnel. Designed for 44tonne intermodal road operation, the trailers have curtain sides, sliding roofs and 76m3 capacity UK exporters can load up to 265 tonnes.

Insurance changes

• Cornhill Insurance has announced a number of policy and premium changes from 1 January for all its commercial vehicle customers.

These include the introduction of a 65% noclaim discount for six or more years without a claim; a 5% increase on basic rates for comprehensive insurance; a 10% increase for noncomprehensive cover; a 5% discount for those operators who have fitted a Tracker or Traldlak system and a 10% driver discount where the vehicle's main driver is aged 40 or more.

• RoadChef is to add five Wimpey fast food units to motorway services across the country Sites at Clacket Lane on the M25; Taunton Deane on the M5; Sandbach on the M6; Rownhams on the M27 will follow Durham in trials of the Wimpey food during 1995.

Bank loan

• Clydesdale Bank is extending its Business Booster loan scheme by two months to the end of February. Loans of 2% below base rate are offered, subject to status, to small businesses that want to expand.

Legal assistance

• London-based solicitor Wedlake Saint is offering a legal assistance scheme to help hauliers recover losses incurred as a result of road traffic accidents. Many operators often fail to recover damages for loss of use of the vehicle while under repair and fail to defend prosecutions. The uninsured loss recovery service costs £15 per year together with a retention of 10% of any monies recovered in any civil action.

Uninsured loss recovery and prosecution and public inquiry representation costs 1245 a year per vehicle, plus the same 10% retainer. Discounts are available for larger fleets.
